Creating a productive workspace can be difficult! In today’s world, it’s now possible for a large amount of people to work from home. Pre-pandemic, it wasn’t as common as it is today. Here at Twin Spires Remodeling, we think it’s important for everyone to have a space that feels productive and prepares them to have a successful work day. In this blog, we’re going to look at some tips to create an office space that will (hopefully) motivate you to get some work done!

Lighting

Lighting can really make or break a room. Productivity is known to be influenced by lighting; helping us to be inspired, focused, or the opposite, depressed. Bad lighting can lead to fatigue, eye strain, headaches, and irritability.

Working in an office may lead to you not having any choice over which kinds of lightbulbs that are used; but, if you’re designing a home office, lighting is one detail that can’t be overlooked. Try to use natural lighting or lamps throughout your home office to create a peaceful environment.

Room Color

Did you know that colors can effect our moods and function of our brains? It can create a physical and emotional response. Picking the right colors for your new office needs to be one that encourages productivity; for example, blue is known to be a productive color. It’s important to keep in mind that too much color can be overwhelming and create the opposite effect.

When working in a company office, bring items in from home that inspire you and keep you focused. These can be photos, little desk decorations, or even plants. If you’re working from home, consider repainting a wall or two, add a different color to your desk, or display pictures that have your favorite colors it them.

Clutter

Clutter can lead to creativity, but it can also lead to distractions in your space. Keeping a clean desk is one way to be productive and focused. Start and end each day by organizing your desk to avoid a messy space.

We also recommend investing in organizational storage. Things like extra drawers, baskets, and shelves can all help you find a home for your work necessities.
